Best Buy To Enter Used Games Market; Finds More Ways To Rip You Off

Best Buy Entering Used Game Market

SAN ANTONIO - Best Buy has recently announced on the CMO's blog site that they will add kiosks to their stores that scan discs for functionality and instantly issue you a Best Buy giftcard.

Details after the jump.

Now, this sounds pretty sweet at first inspection. I can see little 9 year old Timmy putting in his "old" copy of Fallout 3 his knowledgable uncle bought for him, thrilled to death that he can now spend the whopping $8.50 gift card he got on the adventures of spongebob or whatever latest piece of crap Best Buy is trying to pass off as entertainment.

Color me bitter if you must, but the last time my friend walked into a Best Buy she was looking for a cheap hard drive, she walked out with a $220 behemoth and all kinds of connective wires that she didn't need, because the guy in the blue shirt "told me I need it!".

It saddens me that Best Buy is the only show in town these days with the dearly departed Circuit City, which means I'm going to have to shop there for a lot of my computing needs, but if I have my way only about 5% because of the wonder that is internet shopping if you have a few days notice.

In the meantime, for your sake, for your family's sake, don't put your shiny discs in the card dispenser until you've at least checked the other rip-off stores like Gamestop for comparisons sake! (or better yet, get yourself an Ebay account and reap the rewards yourself.)

Opinionated and closeminded

My recommendation for you would be to not shop at Best Buy considering you will not give it a chance. You should probably also start writing for the consumerist instead of making Two Bit News look bad for letting you post something.

Opinionated? Yes. Thats why

Opinionated? Yes. Thats why this post is in the opinion section. Closed minded? I don't think so, as it's based only on true things that have happened at the store.
However, I also value your opinion! Convince me why Best Buy is a great place to shop!

Recheck your credit card balance -- if you're close to the limit, now is the time to settle up. There are lots of ways to manage debt like shaking trees and selling the apples that fall out. If you didn't understand this piece of advice, it's because you don't play Animal Crossing, and therefore, are not a complete idiot. Congratulations.

Pretentious Bunny

Sometimes just knowing something isn't enough. To truly appreciate knowledge, one must draw attention mercilessly to themselves. So, Two Bit News is happy to present this top list to sounding like a pretentious asshole, or guide if you prefer deriving from the latin word meaning "full of information" (more on this later!).
